SVENSKA KULTURFONDEN / CHILDREN AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT IN SWEDISH LANGUAGE

Svenska Kulturfonden is a long-term sponsor of Villa Elba. Svenska Kulturfonden has granted every year financial support to develop children and youth work in Swedish language. With the support of Svenska Kulturfonden, circulating nature school activity has been implemented since 2006 in Kruunupyy, Larsmo, Pietarsaari, Pedersören and Uusikaarlepyy.

The area of Villa Elba also includes bilingual and Swedish-speaking areas. With the support of Kulturfonden, we can ensure that we have services for Swedish-speaking children and young people and for Swedish-speaking educators. We want to work as a “bridge-builder” between Finnish and Swedish speakers. For many camp school students, Villa Elba is the first bilingual place where they have visited. We want to convey good practices, take initiatives, and openly develop new methods in the field of child and youth work.

Circulating nature school activities have been very popular, and over the years, we have held nature school days in almost all schools in the region and most of the day care centers. Through feedback from children and educators, we have been able to develope our operations.
