Ella decided to go to Greece to do volunteer work

Ella from Finland participated in a volunteer work project “Remembrance Trails” in Kryoneri village, which was organized by Filoxenia.

I went on trip and traveled to Greece for a month in May to do volunteer work. I wanted to challenge my self and do something different that I hadn’t done before. The month in Greece was very educational. I met a lot of different people from different parts of Europe and learned a lot about Greek culture and history

We did gardening there and worked in the middle of wonderful nature. We also visit at the museums there and in our free time we could travel to other cities to swim at the beach or otherwise just have an adventure.

I recommend young people to definitely go abroad to do voluntary work. Experience gives a lot of great experiences and grows a lot as a person.

The Remembrance Trails project will continue in the autumn of 2023 when two Finnish youth will depart for Greece. In May and September 2024, there will be two spots available for Finnish youth in each project.
